One word to use instead of saying ‘Challenge’

One Word Instead of Challenge

One Word Instead of Challenge

Think of all the circumstances where you would use the words ‘Challenge’, ‘Problem’, or ‘Issue’. Chances are they are part of your every day vocabulary.

We use these words flippantly saying: ‘This seems to be an Issue’ or ‘I’ve a Problem on my hands’ and ‘I’ve a Challenging day ahead of me’. We don’t really pay attention to what we are saying, not realising that by stating these sentences in a negative manner, we are programming our brains. Our automatic response is to expect and even look for difficulty when we talk in this way.
What if we were to change just one word in each of these sentences to change our thinking, our outlook, our response and subsequent actions. One word!

Repeat the above statements using the word ‘Adventure’ instead of ‘Issue’, ‘Problem’ and ‘Challenge’.

They now become:

‘This seems to be an Adventure’
‘I’ve an Adventure on my hands’
‘I’ve an Adventurous day ahead of me’

Notice the difference? Each sentence immediately becomes a positive statement, holding a sense of excitement, a sense of playfulness. It also changes your outlook and expectations. Try this the next time you find yourself saying that you have a problem or challenge to face. Substitute the word adventure into the sentence and see what happens. As Brian Tracy put it ‘Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life.’
